Thangarani vows to bring development to Buntong

KUALA LUMPUR: Deputy Wanita MIC chief T. Thangarani (pic) is hoping to bring more development to Buntong if she wins the state seat.

The 55-year-old English teacher, who has been fielded as Barisan Nasional candidate for the Perak state seat, said the constituency’s growth has been stagnant.

“As the seat was won by the DAP in the last general election, there were no major projects in the area.

“There were many opposing ideas from the Opposition,” she said when met at the MIC headquarters here.

Th angara ni’ s candidacy was announced by MIC president Datuk Seri Dr S. Subramaniam, who introduced the party’s candidates in a press conference.

With this, the tussle over the Buntong state seat between MIC and MyPPP has been put to rest.

Previously, it was reported that both Barisan component parties were aiming to field their candidates for Buntong and the Cameron Highlands parliamentary seat.

On Monday, it was reported the MIC sealed its position to contest in Cameron Highlands by fielding its Youth chief Datuk C. Sivarraajh.

On MyPPP’s response about the decision to have MIC candidates for the Buntong and Cameron Highlands seats, he said: “We only felt that we wanted to retain our seats.

“If the Prime Minister wants to give our winnable seats to other parties, we have no problem.”
