PKS hopes all its candidates show up on April 28
KOTA KINABALU: A little-known party which has announced its plan to contest all 25 parliamentary seats in the state is hoping all its candidates will show up on nomination day.
Parti Kebangsaan Sabah (PKS) president Thomas Anggan said they would also be contesting in 58 of the 60 state seats.
“I can’t guarantee that all our candidates will turn up, but I sure hope they do,” he said.
Anggan, who was Bingkor assemblyman in the 1980s, said they have their ways to come up with the RM10,000 election deposit for parliamentary seats and RM5,000 for state constituencies.
He also said that PKS, which was approved in 2013, was not a spoiler party as claimed by many.
“We are not a spoiler party. We have been doing our groundwork with our grassroots, although we seldom get publicity in the news,” said Anggan, who is contesting the Bingkor seat.
He said opposition parties such as Parti Warisan Sabah and SAPP were the actual “spoilers”.
He noted that many of the leaders in these opposition parties, which are now supposedly championing Sabah rights, had previously served in Barisan Nasional.
“So, why are they talking about it now when they could have done so much more when they were in power?” he asked.
