The Bond mystery: Which came first?

The letter or the sacking?

PETALING JAYA: Some 12 hours before he took to social media to announce his resignation, Tan Sri M. Kayveas posted on Twitter: “What is more important, your standard of living or living a life with correct standards?”.

On Wednesday morning, he posted on his Facebook and Twitter accounts that he had relinquished all his party positions effective Monday.

He said he stepped down from his capacity as party president, its Kuala Lumpur chairman and Perak adviser role.

Following a press conference by the MyPPP supreme council yesterday afternoon, Kayveas tweeted to say that they were a bunch of cowards who even wanted his membership.

“If they wanted that too, I would have given them. Need not embarrass themselves and stoop so low. Clearly none of them love the party,” he tweeted.

In a following tweet, Kayveas said he would have a press conference after the general election.

He added that it should be prioritised over the “fly that came to sit on his hand”.

Kayveas has been actively lobby- ing for the Cameron Highlands parliamentary seat and had always said he has a better chance wresting the seat, which is traditionally contested by MIC.

He had also said that MyPPP may reconsider staying in Barisan Nasional over the unhappiness that MIC was allocated the seat.

On his Instagram profile, he has been actively posting photographs of him meeting the residents in Cameron Highlands, attending and officiating events there.

He also uses the hash tag #makecameronniceagain in most of his photos.

On April 16, he posted on his Instagram that he was asked to consider moving to Segambut but declined the offer.

“BN should have offered that four years ago and I would have, with your unwavering support and belief in me, worked there with just as much effort put in Cameron Highlands.

“It is clearly contrary to what was preached four years ago and all along our journey in Cameron Highlands that seat will only be given to winnable and likeable candidates who have tirelessly worked for it and who the people prefer,” he wrote.

Kayveas added that he will continue to be with the Cameron Highlands folk, with or without a seat.

Kayveas is the longest serving MyPPP president for 25 years, having taken over the post in 1993.

He was the Taiping MP from 2004 to 2008 but lost to DAP’s Nga Kor Ming in the 2008 general election. He has previously served as a senator and Deputy Housing and Local Government Minister.
