Muhyiddin: Pribumi list may still see ‘normal’ tweaks

-

MUAR: Parti Pribumi Bersatu Malaysia’s “finalised” candidate list may still see some last-minute changes, says party president Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin.

“I consider the list to be finalised, but do not discount the possibility that some tweaking may be done.

“It is normal, nothing unusual, as there may be matters arising that call for this.

I hope there will be no more changes,” he told a press conference after introducing Pakatan Harapan’s candidates for northern Johor yesterday.

He said it was more important for those named as candidates to ensure that their nomination papers are filed accordingly on nomination day this Saturday.

He advised them to be mindful of their behaviour and lifestyle as they will now come under close public scrutiny.

Muhyiddin was commenting on the withdrawal of Pribumi central committee member and Pulai division vice-chief Najwah Halimah Ab Alim, although she was announced as candidate for the Benut state seat on Monday.

The party’s Pontian division chief Zulkifly Tasrep, was announced as her replacement yesterday.

Najwah said she willingly withdrew because of several factors, one of which is that she is not a Benut local.

Muhyiddin, who is Pakatan Harapan Johor chief, said the Opposition alliance was unfazed by the prospect of facing multi-cornered fights in most seats in the state.

Pakatan is fielding candidates in 56 state and 26 parliamentary seats here while PAS is contesting in 51 state and 20 parliamentary seats.

Barisan Nasional will be contesting 56 state and 26 parliamentary seats as well.
