GE14 candidates go all out to win over hearts of voters with just four days to go.

PETALING JAYA: This is it! It’s the last weekend before GE14 with aspiring YBs going all out to capture the hearts and minds of voters.

Politicians from both sides of the divide will surely be hitting the ground running, with long schedules and back-to-back events.

Barisan Nasional secretary-general Datuk Seri Tengku Adnan Mansor said the coalition would do its best in reaching out to as many voters.

“For this weekend, we have instructed our downline to go all out.

“There will be different tactics from holding ceramah to meeting voters at their homes and promoting the party on social media,” he said when contacted.

Tengku Adnan said if leaders and supporters from opposing teams crossed paths, he hoped that they would abide by the law.

With just four days before Malaysia goes to the polls, he said Barisan was “doing well”, as voters knew they could rely on the coalition.

“We can perform. Whatever we promise will be honoured, unlike the Opposition which spreads untruths. I believe people understand this,” he said.

MCA secretary-general Datuk Seri Ong Ka Chuan said this weekend would be a valuable time to meet voters.

“This is the golden hour. We can meet them at eateries, markets, shopping malls and hawker centres.

“During the day, our candidates will make their rounds. But towards

the afternoon, when it’s not too hot, we will organise ceramah using our war trucks.

“At night, we will organise functions and gatherings to reach a wider audience,” he said.

Ong said as states like Johor, Kelantan and Terengganu have different holidays, political parties needed to strategically adjust their schedules.

“Our social media team will be spreading information about our candidates, activities and manifesto.

We have to be creative to attract younger voters too.

“This is a time to go all out, and reach out to all circles,” he added.

The Opposition is also turning the dial up to the maximum, with Pakatan Harapan calling all its candidates to go full steam ahead.

PKR strategic director Sim Tze Tzin said the top leadership had requested all candidates to pound the pavement from as early as 7am until midnight.

“It is now or never. It’s time to

send out as many leaflets and shake as many hands as possible,” he said.

As for campaigning in cyberspace, Sim said the public could expect more material to be released on social media.

“We will be going on a positive and more hopeful campaign,” he said.

From recent turnouts at events including Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad’s ceramah in Putrajaya on Thursday, Sim felt that “the tide has turned”.
