Luit incumbent campaigns during confinement period
MARAN: Being in confinement does not hinder Nurhidayah Shahaimi from campaigning in the general election like the rest of the candidates.
The Barisan Nasional incumbent for the state seat of Luit in Pahang delivered her second child on March 30.
Ready for the challenge, the 35-year-old has engaged her family members to help out on the domestic front while she goes out campaigning.
“This election is a different experience for me compared to the one in 2013. Back then, I was single. Now, I am married and have two children.
“I’m lucky that my husband and family are willing to help take care of the children while I’m out campaigning,” she said.
While her husband looks after the eldest child, Nurhidayah’s sister takes care of her infant child.
Her daily schedule is packed like any other candidate’s, and her day ends past midnight.
“I do take care of myself, especially my diet. When I’m out meeting the voters, I make sure I walk slowly, wear socks despite the heat and also put on the right shoes,” she said.
Her aunt will pack makanan pantang (confinement food) consisting of rice, ikan haruan and an orange as well as vegetables for her to eat while on the go.
“This is challenging because everywhere I go, there’s good food. But I have to restrain myself from eating because I’m still in confinement,” she said.
As the YB for Luit, Nurhidayah believes she has met her KPI, helping deserving ones to receive welfare aid, repairing their dilapidated houses, providing education assistance and land approvals.
Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak has also given the green-light for electricity to be provided to the villagers of Kampung Orang Asli Embus.
Futsal courts will be made available to the youths in Kampung Senggora and Kampung Lubuk Pakuthem by the end of the year.
