Mat Sabu dared to lodge police report

Accuser challenges him to state that he is not the one in ‘scandalous’ photo

KUALA LUMPUR: Parti Amanah Negara president Mohamad Sabu has been challenged to lodge a police report in the next 24 hours to prove that he is not the person implicated in an alleged affair.

Rizal Bakar, a man claiming to be an Amanah grassroots member, said the leader better known as Mat Sabu should lodge the report to state that he is not the man in the audio clips and a screenshot of the social media (WhatsApp) conversation between him and an unidentified woman.

“This is to enable a thorough investigation to be done and the police report should be shared with party members, the media and public,” said Rizal in a statement yesterday.

On Thursday, Rizal and two other men called for a press conference here to expose the conversation, which allegedly took place last July, alluding to an affair between Mat Sabu and the woman.

Rizal said the clips and printed copies of the screenshot were left anonymously on his car windscreen about a week ago.

On Thursday, the trio gave Mat Sabu 36 hours to respond to the allegation. After their press conference, pictures of Mat Sabu and the woman emerged and went viral.

On Friday, Amanah deputy secretarygeneral Abang Ahmad Kerdee Abang Masagus told the media that there was no one named “Rizal Bakar” in the party’s division in Kuala Kedah.

The other two men with the spokesman were mentioned as Amanah members but not named.

Abang Ahmad Kerdee said the party would consider taking legal action against the three for posing as the party’s members.

In his statement yesterday, Rizal said he had been a fan of Mat Sabu and submitted his membership form and payment after a ceramah in Kuala Kedah in 2016.

“If my membership is not in the party’s database, it is not my fault,” he said.

Approached for his comments at a ceramah in Ipoh last night, Mat Sabu said: “No comment. Talk to my lawyer.”
