MUAR: A debate will be held tonight between Parti Pribumi Bersatu Malaysia candidate Syed Saddiq Syed Abdul Rahman and Barisan Nasional candidate Datuk Seri Razali Ibrahim.

“Arrangements are being made by our respective representatives, and it has been agreed that the debate will take place at Muar Traders Hotel at 8pm tomorrow (Sunday),” Syed Saddiq told reporters after a ceramah at Parit Yusof here yesterday.

He said both sides had agreed on the theme of the debate – “Barisan or PH for Putrajaya”.

On Pribumi’s invitation to PAS candidate Abdul Aziz Talib to partic

ipate in the debate, Syed Saddiq said his representative’s efforts to hand over the debate invitation to Abdul Aziz on two occasions were rebuffed.

Abdul Aziz had indicated his refusal to join the debate in a message posted on his Facebook page, saying it was not the right time for

such a debate.

On Wednesday, threeterm incumbent Razali said he was willing to debate with Syed Saddiq – if it would benefit the people of Muar.

In GE13, Razali beat Nor Hizwan Ahmad of PKR to win the Muar parliamentary seat.

Earlier yesterday, both Razali and

Syed Saddiq arrived at the same venue to greet early voters from the police force at Taman Perumahan Polis Parit Perupok in Kampung Kelantan here. Police personnel cast their ballots at the police quarters’ multipurpose hall.

The two political rivals greeted each other and chatted for a while.
