Building lasting relationships

-

“BREAKING Barriers, Building Careers” was the theme of the Young Sikh Networking Event (YSNE) held recently to instil the fact that networking is about building lasting relationships.

A group of 100 budding young minds were brought together to acquire the tools and skills required to achieve this.

Commonly known as YSNE, it was organised by the Sikh Naujawan Sabha Malaysia (SNSM) in collaboration with the Asean Sikh Economic and Entrepreneurship Summit (ASEES) as well as EKTA, a non-govermental organisation set up to empower Sikh women and create awareness on women’s rights.

YSNE aspires to create meaningful relationships among budding professionals within the Sikh community.

Twenty Sikh professionals and business personnel from various industries were invited to share their insights with the group.

The highlight of the event were the three speakers who covered the areas of financial management, entrepreneurship and personal branding.

Brickfields Asia College Education Group managing director Raja Singham Sukumara Singham who was the YSNE keynote speaker said: “As the demand for careers are changing, we must reinvent ourselves, be prepared to learn and adapt.”

The participants comprising students, fresh graduates and young professionals, were eager to network and build a mentor-mentee relationship with the delegates to foster healthy careers.

YSNE founder Arwinjit Singh, who is also a SNSM member, said this is only the beginning of a chain of events.

He urged the youth to keep an eye out for more exciting programmes.
