Asli Centre for Public Policy Studies chairman denies writing letter, instead telling voters to choose wisely.

PETALING JAYA: Tan Sri Ramon Navaratnam denied writing a letter that called on voters to choose Pakatan Harapan.

It was published online and attributed to him.

The Asli Centre for Public Policy Studies chairman said: “The letter was well written but I didn’t write it.”

The online portal has since retracted it. “The portal has also apologised for the misattribution,” Ramon said when contacted.

He was referring to a letter titled “Return the power to the people!” which urged the people to show that they the held the power, and so vote for the Opposition.

Ramon said he would not tell the people who to vote for as he preferred to be neutral.

“But I would tell them to vote wisely,” he said.

He advised the public to choose men and women of integrity, with competence and a track record of good service to the people.

“They must be multiracial and Malaysian in their outlook.

“If they have a record of making racist remarks or bigotry, they shouldn’t be chosen,” he said.

However, Ramon stressed that more importantly, the people should go out to make a choice on polling day this Wednesday.

“You must exercise your duty as good Malaysians,” he said.

Ramon also urged the Malaysian AntiCorruption Commission to curtail money politics and abuse in the election system.
