Fresh faces, young blood

-

There are many new, youthful candidates for GE14. This spells rejuvenation and hope for their parties and constituencies.

PETALING JAYA: The Election Commission has pointed out that a viral video purportedly showing an EC worker in possession of a ballot paper outside a polling station is from 2013.

EC chairman Tan Sri Mohd Hashim Abdullah said the video was not taken on May 5, when early voting was conducted.

“Checks by the EC showed that the incident happened during GE13.

“The video is making the rounds again to cause disorder among the public,” he said.

He added that those with questions could refer to the EC directly via its hotline at 038892 7018.

The video was originally uploaded to YouTube on May 4, 2013, a day before polling that year.

The 53second video was also uploaded and shared on numerous Facebook pages.

In the video, a man is heard scolding an EC worker for possessing what appears to be a ballot paper, claiming it is an offence to do so.

An argument ensues, with a policeman seen trying to calm the situation.

The worker is then asked to open the folded ballot paper, which he does, and it is not marked.

However, shouts of it being an offence to carry the papers out can still be heard before the video ends.
