Go all out to win votes, T’ganu BN candidates urged

KUALA TERENGGANU: Terengganu Barisan Nasional has called on its candidates and machinery to intensify efforts in the last days before polling.

State Barisan chief Datuk Seri Ahmad Razif Abdul Rahman said the coalition must work even harder now to win votes.

“We cannot stay in our comfort zone and must be motivated especially now that we have only three days left to campaign,” he said after launching the Kuala Nerus Akuapolitan housing project near his constituency of Seberang Takir.

“In these last few days, let’s turn it up to the maximum because I’m sure the Opposition is doing the same.”

Ahmad Razif said the party’s focus is to win back the four parliamentary seats – Kuala Terengganu, Kuala Nerus, Dungun and Marang – and 15 state seats from the Opposition.

In GE13, Barisan won Hulu Terengganu, Besut, Kemaman and Setiu, as well as 17 state seats, including Ahmad Razif ’s Seberang Takir.

Separately, he said, the planned Akuapolitan project could improve the livelihood of fishermen in Kuala Nerus.

The project, which Ahmad Razif regards as the “Felda of the Sea”, will be built in phases at a total cost of RM180mil.

The first phase includes building 200 houses for fishermen in the area costing some RM32mil.

Ahmad Razif said the second phase would focus on infrastructure development, including roads, jetties, a fish processing centre and fish market, resembling the one in Sydney, Australia.

“The continuation of the project could depend on the new government, so I urge voters to vote wisely,” he added.

Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak approved the project in 2015. It is aimed at modernising the fishing industry in Seberang Takir.

The project is being developed in partnership with the state government and East Coast Economic Region Development Council.
