Chong: MCA will campaign right to the end

SEREMBAN: MCA will not resort to unethical tactics just to win support from voters, says Datuk Chong Sin Woon.

“We will use less popular and traditional ways to campaign rather than underhand methods to gain support,” the MCA Youth chief told reporters at a meet-and-greet session in Taman Suliana 2.

“I noted that several party leaders have reported this (recording malicious videos) to the police. It has also been confirmed that some of the actors were DAP members.

“I am amused when (DAP stalwart) Lim Kit Siang said the party has got nothing to do with the video.”

Chong was asked to comment on whether he would take further action on the video that contained threats and curses against six non-Muslim Barisan Nasional leaders.

Chong was one of those named in the clip that showed derogatory words and curses used during a da xiao ren (hit the villain) ritual.

According to Sin Chew Daily, DAP’s Balakong candidate Eddie Ng confirmed that the actors in the video were Balakong DAP branch members.

Police are in the midst of identifying the people depicted in the video clip entitled “Rakyat Mengadu”.

On claims by Ng that they did not know about the content of the video when it was filmed, Chong laughed it off, saying it was “ridiculous”.

On a separate matter, Chong said Seremban was one of the parliamentary seats being targeted by Barisan to wrest back in the polls.

“KJ (Khairy Jamaluddin), the Barisan Youth chairman, has come to assist us. The Deputy Prime Minister (Datuk Seri Dr Ahmad Zahid Hamidi) will be here too.

“The response from Malay and Indian communities is good. I will focus my last lap of campaigning in Chinese-majority areas,” said Chong, who is Barisan candidate for Seremban.

“I have been working hard over the last two to three years,” he said.

Earlier in his speech, Chong said it was critical to get strong support from voters in Temiang.

“We hope to win Lenggeng and Ampangan with a bigger majority and to wrest back Sikamat.

“For the next 48 hours, we have to make sure our machinery go all out to woo the voters,” he said.

Chong’s running mate is Siow Koi Voon, who will be contesting in Temiang.
