Tang wants to serve the people in Kulai
KULAI: The MCA candidate for the Kulai parliamentary seat, Tang Nai Soon, is doubling his efforts as GE14 inches towards the May 9 finishing line.
“Although I am very tired, I am still determined to push on because of my strong desire to help my people of Kulai,” said the local boy.
“I have not neglected the people here. I have continued to serve them despite MCA not winning in GE13,” he said yesterday.
Tang, 48, was once an assemblyman when he won the Pekan Nenas state seat in 2008.
He, however, lost in 2013 when he contested the Senai state seat against DAP’s Wong Shu Qi.
These days, he is happy that townsfolk here very much regard him as one of their own.
Nasi lemak trader Mohamad Ekssan, 67, is happy that Tang is having a shot in the race.
“Hearing that Tang is budak kita (our boy) makes me even more excited to support him,” he said.
During one of his recent walkabouts, Tang spoke of his plans to build a market centre like some of the popular ones in Bangkok.
He believed that this would bring economic growth and tourists to Kulai.
“I joined politics because I can serve the people. I hope that this time, Kulai residents will give me a chance to be their elected repre- sentative,” he said.
Tang, who is state MCA vice-chairman, said MCA had never neglected the people in Kulai despite a majority of them voting for DAP’s Teo Nie Ching in the last elections.
“In 2013, Teo asked Kulai folk to give her a chance to serve as their MP. I think after five years, the people of Kulai can make a full assessment of her performance,” he added.
“There has been little development in Kulai. The roads are in poor condition, including a stretch of road to Bukit Batu which desperately needs to be upgraded to a fourlane road.”
The Kulai seat will see a three-cornered fight with Tang, Teo and PAS’ Juwahir Amin in the ring.
