Plantation worker slashed on the neck after arguing with suspect

HE stumbled upon his wife with her young lover and ended up dead.

The real-life soap opera began when plantation worker Amir Mappiase came home one morning to find his 42-year-old wife with a 21-year-old man, reported Metro Ahad.

An argument ensued between the husband and the younger man at the house in Kampung Murai Ladang Kretam, Tawau.

Tawau district police chief Asst Comm Fadil Marsus said Amir, 35, died of a fatal wound after being slashed on the neck.

“The suspect is believed to have slashed the man’s neck using a parang and run away through the back door towards an oil palm plantation,” he said.

Police, with the help of villagers, managed to apprehend the suspect who was hiding about 2km from the murder scene.

“They seized three parang which were 44cm, 53cm and 70cm long,” he added.

ACP Fadil said that both Amir and the suspect were workers at the plantation.

The man’s wife has since disappeared.

Dasha, whose single Cleverly had made waves in London, said she wanted to introduce Alleycats to the younger generation.

“Maybe today’s youngsters are not as familiar with Alleycats, unlike those who grew up with their songs.

“So, I have a plan to record a few of their hits.

“This can help the younger generation to appreciate their works,” said Dasha, 30.

She, however, said that her cover could never match the original songs, as her father’s voice was unique.

Shuttling between London and Kuala Lumpur, she said she was trying to make a name for herself in Britain and that she hoped to make Malaysians proud of her.

“I sing not because I am Logan’s ( Loganathan) daughter but because I have always had an interest in the arts,” she said, adding that she did not want to just be known as Loganathan’s daughter but also as a talented singer in her own right.

She also has plans to record a song for her late father.

“I have always wanted to produce a song for my late dad but I don’t have the strength to do so for now,” she said, explaining that she was still feeling the loss even though he died in 2007.
