Organisation pushing for yoga lessons in schools
THE Global Organisation of People of Indian Origin (Gopio) will conduct yoga classes for Kuala Lumpur Tamil school teachers under a programme funded by the SocioEconomic Development of Indian Community Unit, Makkal Osai reported.
Gopio representatives said the aim was to train 1,000 teachers so that they would benefit from the practice and pass it on to their pupils.
The effort kicked off with the launch of the programme in SJK(T) Vivekananda in Brickfields, Kuala Lumpur. It was attended by the first batch of 100 teachers from schools in the city.
The ultimate aim was to incorporate yoga as a lesson during school hours, one Gopio representative said.
> The lackadaisical attitude of the appointed contractor was the reason for the delay in the completion of the Hindu crematorium in Labis, Johor, the same daily reported.
The RM1mil crematorium in Sungai Karas was to have been completed earlier this year.
However, the contractor was unable to complete the job on time so the Public Works Department (PWD) intervened and terminated its services. Further complications arose because of some land matters, the report added.
PWD has appointed a new contractor, a department representative said after meeting with residents and local leaders.
