It is looking ‘onsoi’ in Sabah, says Najib
KENINGAU: Cheers of “Najib onsoi” resounded through the Urban Transformation Centre (UTC) here as the Prime Minister arrived to launch its operations.
(Onsoi is a native Murut word meaning “all good”.)
And Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak said it is all good in Sabah with various development projects ongoing.
“If the people give us the mandate again on May 9, we will make sure the people here in Keningau and Sabah as a whole continue to enjoy the development that has been planned.
“We will also try to bridge the economic and other gaps between the peninsula and Sabah and Sarawak,” he said here yesterday.
He said the UTC, a centre for various departments and organisations including the Road Transport Department and Immigration Department, was proof of the Government's efficient economic and development planning.
“The services provided here are excellent and there is no other country in the world that can do what Malaysia can,” Najib said.
Apart from the UTC, which is available in Kota Kinabalu and Tawau, the Government had allocated funds amounting to billions of ringgit for Sabah’s development and welfare.
“Before this, under the past leadership, what has Sabah received?” he asked. He said a prime minister who was in power for 22 years seldom visited the state and also never set foot in Keningau.
“But this is my second visit to Keningau in a week,” he said, ques tioning if the former premier really did care about Sabah since he seldom visited the state.
Najib added that there was no point voting for the Opposition as it only knew how to talk bad about others.
“They slander and badmouth Barisan Nasional because they have no other weapon than their mouths,” he said, adding that a country should not be governed by such people.
Noting that Keningau is the country’s largest fresh milk producer, Najib said if given another term, the Government will try to allocate funds for the livestock industry here.
Earlier, Tan Sri Joseph Pairin Kitingan – the Tambunan state seat candidate for Barisan and Huguan Siou, or paramount leader of the Kadazandusun Murut people – urged voters to have confidence in the current government.
Representing Chief Minister Tan Sri Musa Aman, Pairin said the Opposition’s manifesto for GE14 was populist and unrealistic.
“As for Barisan, we have delivered and will continue to bring good to the people, as stated in our manifesto,” he added.
