Chong eager to promote Negri’s rich culture

SEREMBAN: Developing the cultural and creative industry can bring a lot of opportunities for the people in Seremban, says Datuk Chong Sin Woon.

“There should be more programmes that can make this town more vibrant. Previously, I have introduced Tintin market and Nilai market,” he said in a Facebook live session with Sinar Harian.

Tintin market has created a platform for cultural, arts and music activities, allowing youths to join in and promote their creations or innovations.

In Mantin, an open space with the size of a basketball court has been re-decorated to cater for similar activities.

“I am confident if we focus on the cultural and creative economy, it can create more business opportunities and improve income for the people here,” said Chong.

In this polls, he is facing incumbent DAP MP Anthony Loke Siew Fook and Sharifuddin Ahmad of PAS in a three-cornered fight for Seremban.

Under his manifesto, Chong pledged to bring the Tintin market concept to other parts of Seremban.

“Negri Sembilan is rich in culture and this uniqueness should be further promoted.

“I hope to build a cultural centre here, promoting Adat Perpatih of Negri Sembilan and the culture of other ethnic groups,” he said.

Chong said more emphasis should be given to local issues and policies to improve the well-being of the people.

He also promised to improve the bus and train system in Seremban.

These pledges are part of his 12-point manifesto drafted based on public feedback and from his personal observations.
