Selangor ready to get busy in the transfer market

-

PETALING JAYA: Selangor are ready to axe their imports and bring in new faces during the transfer market to salvage their season.

The Red Giants are ninth in the 12-team Super League standings after nine matches and are only two points above the relegation zone.

The team have struggled for form winning only three matches in the Super League but they have managed to book their berth in the semi-finals of the FA Cup against PKNS scheduled in June.

The Red Giants have five imports in their ranks including striker Rufino Segovia and midfielder Alfonso de la Cruz from Spain, centerback Willian Pacheco of Brazil and Indonesian midfielders Evan Dimas and Ilham Udin Armaiyn.

Selangor coach Nazliazmi Nasir refuses to name those set to be axed but De la Cruz, who had only made five appearances from the team’s 13 matches, is top in the list.

“Everything depends on management to replace players but, as a coach of course, I want to strengthen the team,” said Nazliazmi.

“This is Selangor, we need players who can contribute to the team’s success. Maybe there are some players including foreign players who will be dropped, but we will announce it at a later date.”

The fate of Selangor’s under performing players look bleak after they were held to a 1-1 draw by PKNP in their Super League match at the Cheras Stadium on Sunday.

The Red Giants had taken the lead through Segovia in the 54th minute but Super League debutants PKNP equalised through Hafiz Ramdan deep into added time to share the points.

“We planned and played accordingly in the game but in the end we got punished for mistakes in added time. It’s a lesson for us, we should not take things lightly until the final whistle,” he added.
