Negri Ruler wants a just govt
Incoming MB and reps discuss views on pledges and plans
KUALA PILAH: The incoming Pakatan Harapan state government has been advised by the Yang di-Pertuan Besar of Negri Sembilan Tuanku Muhriz Tuanku Munawir to carry out their duties in a fair and just manner.
The Ruler, who met 20 Pakatan assemblymen during an audience at Istana Besar Seri Menanti, also conveyed that he wanted the government to be stable.
State Pakatan chief Aminuddin Harun said they managed to exchange views with the Ruler including some of their plans for Negri Sembilan.
“Tuanku told us that our government must be stable and must carry out our responsibilities as pledged to the rakyat,” he said when met outside the palace grounds here.
Aminuddin, who is now into his third term as Sikamat assemblyman, also handed over a letter from Pakatan president Datuk Seri Dr Wan Azizah endorsing him as the next mentri besar of Negri Sembilan.
“The president has proposed only one name and that happens to be mine.
“However, it will be up to Tuanku to decide and we will only make an official announcement once he gives his consent,” he said.
Asked if the Ruler had given them a date for the swearingin ceremony, Aminuddin said he had not.
He said the fourparty coalition has not finalised whether it would have a similar number of executive councillors as Barisan Nasional previously.
“We will discuss that only after the swearingin ceremony,” he said.
The last Barisan government had 11 members in its exco lineup.
Aminuddin said the Ruler also spent time getting to know the Pakatan delegation.
“At first, he met the whole group together but then he met each of us in private.
“He also wanted to know each of us better since we will be forming the next government,” he said.
Asked if the incoming Pakatan government would meet former mentri besar Datuk Seri Mohamad Hasan after they are sworn in, Aminuddin said he was looking forward to that.
“We hope to be able to meet him to exchange ideas and as a matter of courtesy,” he said.
State DAP chief Anthony Loke who was also present chose not to comment when asked if he would rather take up a federal position or one in the state exco.
Loke, who is DAP national organising secretary, is eligible for both as he won the Seremban parliament and Chennah state seats.
“It is too premature for me to comment and I will let the party leadership decide on this,” he added.
