Azmin to meet parties over exco seat allocation
KLANG: Negotiations are ongoing for seat allocation in the Selangor government with newly sworn-in Mentri Besar Datuk Seri Azmin Ali meeting party representatives early yesterday.
He will have another meeting with them today before the exco members take the oath of office before Selangor Ruler Sultan Sharafuddin Idris Shah.
“Since we will have to work as a team, I am sure we will be able to reach a consensus before Monday,” said Azmin, who is Bukit Antarabangsa assemblyman.
On the candidates’ selection, Azmin said Sultan Sharafuddin has directed that those selected must be well qualified and capable of serving the people effectively.
Meanwhile, a Pakatan Harapan source said it is likely that PKR would get five out of the 10 seats, followed by DAP with three posts.
Pribumi and Amanah are expected to get one seat each.
Azmin, who was sworn in yesterday for a second term, said Pakatan Harapan’s victory in GE14 was bigger than the previous elections.
It won 51 of the 56 seats in the state, compared to 44 in GE13 when the coalition was known as Pakatan Rakyat.
“This proves that the people of Selangor are very satisfied with our policies and programmes.
“And we have also succeeded in formulating policies to meet the aspirations of the state’s people,” he said after his swearing-in ceremony.
In addition to taking oath as mentri besar, Azmin, who is PKR deputy president, was also sworn into the Selangor Royal Council in the capacity of his state position.
