Negri MCA chairman resigns from all positions

-

SEREMBAN: Negri Sembilan MCA chairman Datuk Seri Dr Lim Chin Fui has resigned from all his party positions, following MCA’s defeat in all the seats it contested here.

MCA was defeated in two parliamentary and 10 state seats. This was a repeat of its disastrous outing in the last general election.

“I will take full responsibility for MCA’s defeat in Negri.

“I will resign from all my positions in the party, effective today (yesterday),” he said.

Dr Lim said his positions in the party included being the Negri MCA chairman, Telok Kemang MCA division chairman and MCA central committee member.

“Negri MCA deputy chairman (Datuk Yap Ching Leong) will take over my duties and my responsibilities.

“I will not quit MCA but I will focus on the transformation needed for the party,” he told a press conference yesterday.

Dr Lim, who contested in the Chuah state seat, lost to PKR’s Michael Yek Diew Ching by 3,201 votes.

Congratulating the Negri Pakatan Harapan which formed the state government, he said: “Previously, under the Barisan Nasional state government led by Datuk Seri Mohamad Hasan, Negri has developed well.

“We hope the new state government will continue all the good policies implemented.”

Since Barisan is no longer the state government, he said MCA would not have the resources to continue the operations of its service centres here.
