Calling all science superstars
PETROSAINS, The Discovery Centre is on the hunt for the country’s next science superstars from among secondary school students through its signature programme, the Petrosains Science Show Competition 2018.
Currently in its 10th year, the unique competition which marries science and performing arts, is organised by Petrosains to popularise science and promote exciting and effective learning methods for students.
The competition is supported by the Education Ministry’s Co-Curricular and Arts Division and Bank Islam as a financial part- ner.
Participants for this competition are required to present a scientific concept and showcase an experiment or demonstration to illustrate the concept, either individually or in teams of two in a 15-minute performance on stage.
The top 10 shorlisted entries will compete in their respective states during the state-level rounds.
Eight state champions will then battle it out for the grand prize in the final competition to be held in October 2018.
Winners of this competition stand a chance to win cash prizes totalling more than RM40,000 and a grand prize of a fully expenses paid trip to the China Science Technology Museum in Beijing, China worth RM30,000.
The school with the most number of entries, will also win a cash award for submitting the highest number of those taking part.
The competition will also be recorded and turned into an entertaining and educational TV programme aired on Astro TVIQ channel 610.
The closing date for the competition is May 31.
