‘Rafizi should cut the politicking’
PETALING JAYA: There should be no room for squabbling within the Pakatan Harapan Government as this is a period of healing and uniting the country, says a prominent moderation advocate.
Anas Zubedy said the prevailing mood in the country was for “less politicking and more real work”.
“We want a united front to solve real issues, not political party disputes,” he said in an open letter yesterday to PKR and its vice-president Rafizi Ramli.
Rafizi had criticised Prime Minister Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad’s three Cabinet appointments on Saturday, saying it had been done without a consensus with PKR.
Anas urged Rafizi and PKR to give its full support to Dr Mahathir for the next two years as the new PM steers the country forward.
He said Dr Mahathir should be allowed to choose his Cabinet members and supporting teams.
“His decisions will not be perfect and will not make everyone happy.
“However, by giving him full support Pakatan will remove uncertainties, provide hope and create a steady platform for renewal,” Anas said.
He said the people voted for Pakatan and not individual parties.
“We voted for Pakatan under Dr Mahathir’s leadership.
“As such we do not care which party gets what or how many Cabinet posts,” Anas said, adding that GE14 had proved to be a Malaysian tsunami.
