Puah voices concern over accepting Umno reps into Pakatan
JOHOR BARU: The state PKR does not agree with Parti Pribumi Bersatu Malaysia’s move to welcome Umno assemblymen into their fold.
Johor PKR deputy chief Jimmy Puah said accepting them into Pakatan Harapan was “disturbing and worrying”.
“The people voted in Pakatan and we should respect the mandate given to us.
“I do not think these crossovers can add any value to our pact,” he said in an interview.
Puah, who is Bukit Batu assemblyman, said PKR would voice its concerns to newly-minted Mentri Besar Datuk Osman Sapian.
He added that the people had a lot of expectations and it was the duty of Pakatan to start fulfilling election promises.
“I am thankful to all Malaysians for believing in change and giving us the mandate.
“We should start to look into and implement our pledges in stages,” Puah added.
To a question on whether he would be appointed as one of the 10 state executive councillors, he was coy about it, saying it was better to wait until tomorrow for an official announcement.
Among the names speculated include Puah, Aminolhuda Hassan (Parit Yaani), Dzulkefly Ahmad (Kota Iskandar), Mohd Khuzzan Abu Bakar (Semerah), Tan Hong Pin (Skudai), Liow Cai Tung (Johor Jaya), Mazlan Bujang (Puteri Wangsa), Sheikh Omar Ali (Paloh) and Dr Sahruddin Jamal (Bukit Kepong).
