Johor govt to go for 3:3:2:2 formula in exco line-up

ISKANDAR PUTERI: The Johor Pakatan Harapan government is expected to unveil its line-up of 10 executive councillors today.

The state government would use the 3:3:2:2 formula, which was agreed upon by Pakatan parties, said Mentri Besar Datuk Osman Sapian.

“This matter has been agreed upon by all Pakatan members,” he said.

However, he declined to reveal the names of the exco or the number of posts that each party got.

Speaking to reporters after clocking in on his first day as the new Mentri Besar in Kota Iskandar yesterday, Osman said he had presented the list to Johor Ruler Sultan Ibrahim Ibni Almarhum Sultan Iskandar to get His Majesty’s approval.

“If everything goes well and His Majesty agrees to the list, then the swearing-in ceremony will be held at Istana Besar in Johor Baru on Tuesday (today),” he said.

Asked whether the new state government would continue with the portfolios from the previous administration, Osman said there might be changes.

On another matter, he played down the move by three former Umno assemblymen who jumped ship to Pakatan after GE14, saying it was just coincidence that they chose to join Parti Pribumi Bersatu Malaysia instead of other parties.

“Furthermore, those three only said they wanted to be with us but they have yet to hand over their official forms to Pribumi,” said Osman, who is Johor Pribumi secretary.

It was reported that three Umno assemblymen have joined Pribumi, thus pushing Pakatan’s number to 39 in the 56-seat Johor state assembly.

With the departure of Sedili assemblyman Rasman Ithnain, Rosleli Jahari (Johor Lama) and Alwiyah Talib (Endau), Barisan Nasional is now left with 16 seats, giving Pakatan a two-thirds majority in the state assembly.

The remaining seat is held by PAS.
