ISKANDAR PUTERI: The state government will find other ways of helping the rakyat in areas won by Barisan Nasional representatives, said Johor Mentri Besar Datuk Osman Sapian.

This came after his earlier statement that no development allocation would be given to the Barisan representatives and on a change of the state slogan came under fire from his own party.

“We will conduct a survey to come out with our own formula. This means to say that we are not giving allocations but we have other ways of helping the rakyat in those areas,” he told reporters after clocking in as the new Mentri Besar at Kota Iskandar here yesterday.

On Sunday, Pribumi Youth chief Syed Saddiq Syed Abdul Rahman had written on Facebook that he “humbly disagreed” with Osman, adding that the Barisan representatives should be funded because they provided check and balance.

“It is all right because anyone can comment about it but he (Syed Saddiq) does not know what I was saying as a whole,” said Osman.

He also said the change of the state government slogan from “Muafakat Johor” to “Harapan Johor” was nothing more but a suggestion.

“I just threw out an idea on the slogan. Now, people are responding towards it and this is good.

“I am not an artist where I can come up with many slogans but I like using this way where I can choose some good ones – if there are any,” he added.

In a post on Johor Southern Tigers Facebook on Sunday, Tunku Mahkota Johor Tunku Ismail Ibni Sultan Ibrahim had said that “Muafakat Itu Berkat” (Consensus is a blessing) was a slogan that has been used since the inception of the state in 1885.
