Man attacks mechanic over car repair costs TERENGGANU:

-

KUALA Dissatisfied with the price he had to pay for car repairs, a man attacked his mechanic with a flower pot and stones before fleeing the scene.

In the incident that happened on May 9, the 55-year-old man and two others, believed to be in their 40s, also tied the injured mechanic’s hands with wire.

Kuala Terengganu deputy OCPD Supt Suffian Sulaiman said police have identified the older suspect as Che Azhar Che Khas @ Mat Che Kah and are trying to trace the other two suspects.

“The victim has a broken rib as well as facial and head injuries.

“He has since been discharged from hospital and his condition is reported to be stable,” Supt Suffian said.

He explained that Mat Che Kah was upset after the victim charged him RM500 to fix his car and vented his anger on the mechanic.

Supt Suffian said Mat Che Kah has a criminal record for drug-related, mischief by fire and rioting offences.

Police believe that he is still in Kuala Terengganu.

“He could be staying with friends or even relatives and we urge them to give him up as protecting a suspect is a crime,” Supt Suffian said.

Separately, Supt Suffian also urged the public to stop making false police reports after they received four such reports between March and May.

“The people who lodged the reports alleged that they had been robbed but further investigations showed otherwise,” he said, adding that they had lodged such reports to avoid paying debts.

Supt Suffian said it was an offence to lodge a false police report and if proven guilty, offenders can face up to six months in jail or fined RM2,000, or both.
