> Due credit

I applaud Tan & Family, “Giving praise where it is due” ( The Star, May 14), for being rational and fair in giving credit when it’s due to our former PM. With the current sentiments and the onslaught of criticism against him, it would be so easy to go with the tide. It takes courage and a strong sense of conscience to write a letter like that. – Jennifer Choo

> Brilliant idea

The setting-up of the Council of Elders is truly a brilliant idea. It is a novel way to make decisions, and five heads are better than one, surely. Congratulations, Tun Dr Mahathir. – MAM

> Review project

Pakatan Harapan, please reconsider the Penang undersea tunnel project. Do we need it at all? The proposed F&B hub is not appealing either. Leave Gurney as it is, please. Develop other parts of the island instead.

> Gift choices

Gift to members of the government and public servants should be restricted to perishable items like food and flowers which cannot be exchanged or resold for cash or kind.

> Toll next?

Besides GST, Pakatan Harapan also promised to abolish tolls. Hope it will keep its promises to the people. – BH

> Fulfilling promises

A government that is absolutely free of corruption and does not spend on unnecessary projects will have no problem boosting the national economy and fulfilling its promises to the people. – Guiding Light

> Calling card

The general election is over. Would the elected MPs be brave enough to allow their constituents to contact them directly by making their mobile phone numbers known? Or would they only show their face come the next general election?

> House in disorder

One can only give advice when one’s own home is in order. Kelantan is so short of economic opportunities that the young are venturing to other states to make a living. Social and sexual problems abound in the state that need to be addressed first.

> Wrong call

Rafizi, we always respect your principles and courage but you are wrong this time. Please don’t rock the boat while you are on board. – James & Friends

> Ignoring history

History always repeats itself. Greed breeds corruption and corruption will “blind” the leaders, leading to their ultimate downfall! – James

> A good example

We wish all the newly elected MPs and ADUNs could emulate Tan Sri Lee Lam Thye for his sincere service to the people during his tenure as MP and for what he is doing now for the sake of the nation. – Naim Misai
