Newly-elected Prime Minister Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad indicates that the Yang di-Pertuan Agong is willing to grant an immediate full pardon to PKR leader Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim.

Anwar supporters and media personnel gather at the Cheras Rehabilitation Hospital where he is undergoing treatment and physiotherapy.

PKR communications director Fahmi Fadzil informs media waiting at the hospital that Anwar will walk free from the hospital upon receiving the royal pardon.

PKR deputy president Datuk Seri Azmin Ali informs the media that the King has requested Anwar’s presence at Istana Negara at noon.

Federal Territories Pardons Board convenes with Istana Negara issuing a statement shortly afterwards that the King had granted Anwar a full pardon.

Anwar steps out of the hospital’s rehabilitation centre to a cheering crowd before leaving for Istana Negara in a Prisons Department vehicle.

Anwar arrives at Istana Negara to present himself before the King.
