Govern based on Johor state constitution, Pakatan told
JOHOR BARU: Sultan Ibrahim Ibni Almarhum Sultan Iskandar has reminded the new Pakatan Harapan state government to govern based on the state constitution.
The Johor Ruler said all previous state administrations had been systematic and orderly and governed based on the Undang Undang Tubuh Kerajaan Johor, which was enacted in 1895.
“I will continue to look at the actions and decisions by the new state government, including giving advice and my views to the government in the interest of the people,” he said in his decree after the swearing-in ceremony of 10 Johor state exco members here yesterday.
Sultan Ibrahim added that he will not allow anyone to betray the state and people, or try to ruin the unity of the people here.
His Majesty also reminded the newly appointed exco members to give their full commitment and cooperation to the Mentri Besar.
“If there are exco members who fail to carry out their responsibilities, I hope the Mentri Besar will know how to solve it,” he said.
Sultan Ibrahim reminded the exco members that the posts they held were not meant for them to enrich themselves but to serve with integrity, dedication and fairness.
Mentri Besar Datuk Osman Sapian said he has high hopes and confidence in the exco team.
“I have instructed the exco member responsible for water to immediately hold discussions with the departments and agencies to come up with a formula to give free water for those under the B40 group.
“We will examine the matter with the state financial officer as it involves an RM36mil allocation a year,” he added.
Osman said the state government will also be meeting with local councils to discuss fund allocations.
On the exco line-up, Osman, who holds the Natural Resources, Administration, Financial Planning, and Johor Economic Development Portfolios, said about half of them were under the age of 45.
The 10 exco members are Tan Hong Pin (Local Government, Science and Technology); Sheikh Umar Bagharib Ali (Information, Entrepreneurship Development, Cooperatives and Creative Economy); Dr Sahruddin Jamal (Health, Environment and Agriculture): Liow Cai Tung (Women Development and Tourism exco), Jimmy Phuah Wee Tse (International Trade, Investment and Utilities).
The other members are Aminolhuda Hassan (Education and Religious Affairs); Dzulkefly Ahmad (Housing and Rural Development); Dr S. Ramakrishnan (Consumerism, Human Resource and Unity), Mazlan Bujang (Works, Infrastructure and Transportation); and Mohd Khuzzan Abu Bakar (Youth, Sports and Culture).
