> Facing justice

GE14 is over and the rakyat have won. Time to clean up corruption. I suggest that we follow the process in China where corrupt citizens were asked to own up voluntarily. Get the culprits to return their ill-gotten money to get lighter punishment or face the full force of the law when they are caught. – HM TAN

> Task for health minister

Hope the new health minister will be a health professional with the power to sack or transfer staff. This should apply to all the other ministers too. Previously, the director-general of some ministries called the shots. – Ramatk

> Glad tidings for Anwar

Indeed, we’re glad Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim is finally free. We wish him all the very best in his future endeavours. God bless him and our new Malaysia. – 1M’sian Supporters

> Let PM do his job

A former minister said the present government has chosen “cowboys” as ministers. I’d like to tell him to shut up and let the PM do his job. – Masri Abdullah, Kajang

> Stronger race relations

I agree with Tan Sri Lee Lam Thye’s comments, “Seize the opportunity to carve out new era in race relations” ( The Star, May 17), that the new Pakatan Harapan government should capitalise on the people’s support to build a new era in race relations and work towards a united Malaysia. – Faliq Ashraf

> People’s wish list

We hope leaders in our new government will be exemplary models of cultured speech and action. Do away with potty mouth leaders. Uphold the motto “Kepimpinan Melalui Teladan (Leadership by Example)” and march on towards bersih (no corruption), cekap (hold all civil servants accountable) and amanah (be proud of what you do and stand for).

> Amend election laws

Agree with Syahredzan Johan’s “Don’t allow GE14 travesty to recur” ( The Star, May 17). The law governing general and state elections should be amended so that the general election or state election (if separate) is held on a public holiday for the Federation or for the relevant states respectively. The days before and after the general election must also be declared public holidays to facilitate maximum voter turnout. – Dr Citizen, Pajam

> Hole in the pocket

Tun M, please look into the plight of pensioners who need medicines from public hospitals. We have to buy some costly medicines and have not been reimbursed since last August. – M Geetha

> Let ECRL proceed

I hope the new government will proceed with the ECRL project but at a reduced price and new terms. – SAM
