DAP to get extra state exco seat in Perak
IPOH: Perak DAP will now be getting five seats in the state executive council.
A source has indicated that the party would get the extra post at the expense of the only seat initially meant for Parti Pribumi Bersatu Malaysia.
The formula for the state exco allocation is now 5-3-2, given to DAP, Amanah and PKR respectively.
It was reported earlier that the exco seat allocation would follow a 4-3-2-1 formula, with DAP having the most, followed by Amanah, PKR and PPBM.
In GE14, DAP won 18 state seats, Amanah six, PKR four and Pribumi one.
Sungai Manik assemblyman Datuk Zainol Fadzi Paharudin, who was heavily tipped to take one of the spots after leaving Umno to join Pribumi, looks likely now to miss out.
The source said the five state assemblymen from DAP are Paul Yong Choo Kiong (Tronoh), Wong May Ing (Pantai Remis), A. Sivanesan (Sungkai), Abdul Aziz Bari (Tebing Tingg) and Howard Lee Chuan How (Pasir Pinji).
“From Amanah, they are Sungai Rapat assemblyman Datuk Seri Mohammad Nizar Jamaluddin, Asmuni Awi (Manjoi) and Muhd Fadhil Nurrudin (Kamunting).
“And from PKR, the two are Kuala Kurau assemblyman Abdul Yunus Jamhari and Simpang Pulai assemblyman Tan Kar Hing,” he said.
Perak Mentri Besar Ahmad Faizal Azumu had told reporters earlier this week that its line-up could have a maximum of 10 exco members.
The list of the exco’s names has been presented to Sultan of Perak Sultan Nazrin Muizzuddin Shah for consent.
The swearing-in ceremony for the state exco members will be held at Istana Iskandariah in Kuala Kangsar at 5pm today.
