T’ganu sets 10 targets for growth

-

KUALA TERENGGANU: The state government has set 10 main targets to propel Terengganu into a prosperous and developed state in the near future.

New Mentri Besar Dr Ahmad Samsuri Mokhtar said the targets were to spur Terengganu as a tourism corridor apart from serving as hubs for international Islamic education, regional products such as seafood and batik, ship repairing and heavy industries.

In addition, Terengganu will also be a human resource development hub for the oil and gas industry and centre for the country’s mineral resource industry.

“We also have the integrated construction of the second phase of the East Coast Expressway, the East Coast Economic Region Development Council and the East Coast Rail Link project,” he said in his speech at Wisma Darul Iman here yesterday.

“The agriculture and agro-based sectors will also be strengthened through a more comprehensive value chain concept.”

Ahmad Samsuri, who is Rhu Rendang state assemblyman, was sworn in as mentri besar at Istana Syarqiyyah last Friday.

He denied claims that the state government had dismissed the former government-appointed imam and had shut down the community hall as circulated on social media a few days ago.

“This is fake news and I understand that those responsible for raising the issue had apologised.” — Bernama
