Report: Jho Low may be hiding in Taiwan
CONTROVERSIAL businessman Low Taek Jho, also known as Jho Low, could be in Taiwan, Nanyang Siang Pau reported.
From the time the 1Malaysia Development Bhd ( 1MDB) scandal broke, Jho Low’s whereabouts have been unknown but sources said he could be hiding in Taiwan, the Chinese daily reported.
The daily said it might be difficult for Jho Low, who has been linked to the 1MDB controversy, to be extradited to Malaysia.
Prime Minister Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad earlier told the media that the Government “roughly knows” where to find Jho Low.
He added that the Government had not sought help from Interpol to locate him.
> Taiwanese Mandopop superstar Jay Chou is working on a new film after completing a script for a Hollywood movie, China Press reported.
He told reporters that he was looking for a producer in Hollywood to develop the project.
According to Chou, he wanted to take up the challenge to make a Hollywood film instead of a Chinese film.
Chou described the storyline of the movie as a combination of suspense, thriller and mystery.
He will also be playing the leading role in the film.
Chou cowrote and directed the awardwinning Taiwanese film Secret, which was released in 2007 and was highly acclaimed in Taiwan and Hong Kong.
He debuted on the silver screen with a starring role in the Hong Kong movie Initial D in 2005.
Chou has also acted in two Hollywood films, The Green Hornet
and Now You See Me: The Second Act.
> Awardwinning Hong Kong actor Anthony Wong claimed that he was fed water mixed with wash ing powder as a child because his mother wanted to kill him and then commit suicide, Sin Chew Daily reported.
Wong said the incident occurred when he was four years old, after his father walked out on the family.
In an interview with Next Magazine, Wong said he had always felt that he should not have been born.
Despite forcefeeding him the soapy water, the actor claimed that his mother had a change of heart and could not bear to see him suffering.
She broke down crying before rushing him to the hospital for treatment.
Wong added that he experienced a “miserable childhood” after his father left, describing his younger self as rebellious and lacking selfesteem.
