FAM order three teams to settle ex-players’ compensation
PETALING JAYA: The Football Association of Malaysia (FAM) status committee have ordered three teams to pay their former players compensation totalling more than RM1mil.
The three teams – Perlis, Kuantan FA and Petaling Jaya Rangers – were found guilty of not settling their players’ salaries following the committee meeting held on Monday.
PJ Rangers were ordered to pay their player Abdullah Yusoff a compensation of RM120,000 – which is the remainder of his contract – after the club terminated the contract unilaterally.
The status committee have ordered Kuantan FA to make a full payment to 24 players totalling RM763,062 – except for import player Rancho Da Silva Andre Francisco, who will receive a portion of his full compensation totalling US$28,387 (RM112,768).
Kuantan FA have already been axed by M-League organisers Malaysian Football League (MFL) for their no-show in a league match against Police at the Shah Alam Stadium in April.
The cash-strapped team’s failure to settle their players’ salaries was the reason their players did not turn up for the match.
Perlis had to settle a total of RM182,000 in arrears to 22 players except for two, who will receive a portion of their initial claims.
Mohd Riduwan Maon will receive RM10,500 and Muhammad Alif Jamaluddin RM7,500.
