Sabah may get three full Cabinet posts

-

KOTA KINABALU: Sabah is likely to get three full Cabinet posts under Prime Minister Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad’s line-up, with all coming from Parti Warisan Sabah.

Sources said the three likely Cabinet positions are expected to be Tourism and Culture, International Trade and Industry, and the Prime Minister’s Department.

They said Warisan is also eyeing at least three to four deputy minister posts.

Sabah Chief Minister and Warisan president Datuk Seri Mohd Shafie Apdal said last week that he had forwarded the names of six Warisan MPs to Dr Mahathir to consider for his Cabinet.

They included Penampang MP Darell Leiking, Batu Sapi MP Datuk V.K. Liew, Silam MP Mohammad Ketapi, Kalabakan MP Ma’mun Sulaiman and Papar MP Ahmad Hassan.

Those said to have a good chance of being made deputy ministers are “giant killer” Kota Belud MP Isnaraissah Munirah Majilis and Sepanggar MP Datuk Azis Jamman, who defeated former federal ministers Datuk Seri Dr Salleh Said Keruak and Datuk Seri Abdul Rahman Dahlan in GE14.

Sabah Pakatan Harapan, which is aligned with Warisan, also submitted names to Dr Mahathir to be considered for Cabinet positions.

The full Federal Cabinet will comprise 25 representatives, with 13 sworn in yesterday.
