JOHOR BARU: Johor Umno has decided that all posts within the party, including the presidency, must be contested during the party election this year.

The party election was the only way for Umno to carry much needed change and show its commitment to it, state chief Datuk Seri Mohamed Khaled Nordin said.

Johor Umno, he said, thanked former president Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak for his contributions but members should be allowed to choose leaders whom they believed could make major changes within the party.

“In our meeting, Johor Umno agreed that all posts must be contested because this is important for the party,” he said after chairing the meeting yesterday.

On another matter, Mohamed Khaled said Johor Umno would watch the new Pakatan Harapan-led state government closely.

The state Umno, he said, had unanimously decided that Pontian Umno chief Datuk Hasni Mohammad would be made Johor Opposition chief.
