Awie reveals offer to join political party – but declines

-

AWIE, the rock singer who mesmerised Malaysians with his hit song Sejati, declined to be involved in politics despite being offered a post in a political party before.

He told Kosmo! that he had followed his father’s advice.

“My father said that if I loved my career and Wings, I should forget about the offer.

“The fans of Wings will have differences in political opinions,” he said, referring to his rock band.

Awie, 49, said he had always been interested in politics as his father was active in it at that time.

> Harian Metro reported that the family of radio announcer Mohd Rafiy Rahamat, who died on Saturday, believed that there were unexplained causes that led to his death.

His sister Suhaila Rahamat said her 32-yearold sibling had been suffering from a “mys- terious illness” since the end of last year.

“During one session of traditional treatment, things such as glass, nails and shaving razors came out of his body and his vomit was black,” she said.

> A taxi driver’s decision to sleep inside his car led to his death, reported Harian Metro.

The 44-year-old man had parked his car at a mall in Subang Jaya at 11.40pm on Saturday.

A security guard at the mall told him to leave but he did not do so, Subang Jaya OCPD Asst Comm Mohammad Azlin Sadari said.

“At about 4am on Sunday, the security guard heard an explosion in the parking lot before finding a burning taxi,” he said.

A man inside the vehicle was found dead, believed to be from smoke inhalation, Asst Comm Mohammad Azlin added.

Police believed the taxi’s NGV tank exploded.
