Anifah in the dark over brother’s whereabouts

-

KOTA KINABALU: Even the brother of Sabah Barisan Nasional chairman Tan Sri Musa Aman is in the dark over his whereabouts.

Datuk Seri Anifah Aman said he last spoke to Musa at Sri Gaya, the official residence of the Chief Minister, on either May 9 or May 10 and had since not been in contact with his sibling.

Asked if he knew where his brother was, Anifah replied after a buka puasa event last night: “He doesn’t need my help. He can fight his own battles.

“I have spoken to everybody except him. I have no contact with him.”

Anifah, who is four years younger than Musa who is 67, said what mattered most was that their relationship as brothers remained intact and that his sibling was well.

“If he is not, then I’ll be concerned. Otherwise, (he should) get a rest, you know.

“He’s been too long in politics. So (he should) take a good rest then come back and see what he wants to do,” he said.

Anifah said their communication had always been sparse as they would only contact each other about important family matters.

“Otherwise, we will just leave it like that,” he said.

Last night’s buka puasa was attended by senior Sabah Barisan leaders such as Karanaan assemblyman Datuk Seri Masidi Manjun and Beluran MP Datuk Seri Ronald Kiandee.

Also present were Sabah STAR president Datuk Dr Jeffrey Kitingan and Parti Harapan Rakyat Sabah president Datuk Lajim Ukin.

Parti Bersatu Sabah (PBS) president Tan Sri Joseph Pairin Kitingan, his deputy Datuk Dr Yee Moh Chai and Parti Bersatu Rakyat Sabah (PBRS) deputy president Arthur Kurup were also there.

PBS and PBRS left the Barisan coalition after the general election on May 9.

The Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission is reportedly checking on claims that RM20mil was used to gain support for Barisan to form the state government with the help of Sabah STAR.

Earlier this week, graft-busters seized some RM80,000 in cash and a bank card during a raid on Dr Jeffrey’s Keningau house and offices here.

They also recorded statements from him and his party officials.
