Doubles Challenge proves a hit
Fourth annual tournament promotes fellowship and unity on the fairways and greens of Templer Park
AFTER three successful Gua Caya Lu Unity Doubles Golf Challenge tournaments, SportsUnite Sports Club and Templer Park Country Club in Rawang teamed up to host a fourth event that turned out to be another resounding success.
A record 136 golfers of different races took part in the doubles competition that had each flight feature two different races.
There were prizes galore on offer from sponsors who shared the vision of “promoting fellowship and unity” through sports.
The lucky draw was the most attractive item on the agenda and in keeping with the fellowship spirit of the event, all who took part were winners, not only walking away with prizes but more importantly building camaraderie and new friendships.
Among the highlights of the day were three grand prizes (in pairs) of Titoni watches, two sets of Cleveland irons and two mountain bicycles.
There were no individual prizes and to promote the spirit of fellowship it was a requirement that both golfers in the pair be present to receive the lucky draw prizes, otherwise these were forfeited and snowballed to the next lucky draw. Almost every pair went home with a lucky draw prize.
“The spirit of fellowship and unity prevailed throughout the event. There was lots of camaraderie and friendship,” said SportsUnite Sports Club chairman Dina Rizal, and fully endorsed by T.C. Gooi, the joint organising chairman of the event .
“This was the intention of the organisers and there were no winners or losers. All the golfers who took part were winners and enjoyed a great game of golf in the spirit of fellowship and unity.
“We look forward to the fifth edition next year with immense excitement and promise,” added Dina.
“We would like to thank Templer Park, the sponsors and all golfers for their support in making this a truly memorable one.”
