Study tour to Taiwan
THIRTY two students from Universiti Teknologi Mara Sabah’s Faculty of Hotel and Tourism Management and the Faculty of Plantation and Agrotechnology recently visited Taiwan.
Students and lecturers gained valuable experiences on the five-day four-night trip where the tourism students learnt about dealing directly with industry players while the agriculture students boosted their knowledge about new technology in plantations.
The trip is part of the tourism students’ final year assignment for the ‘Tour Planning and Guiding Course’ as it required them to plan and organise a trip for the whole class as part the course.
One of the main agenda was to visit the National Taipei University which they exchanged ideas on the cultural and educa- tion attractions.
The projects’ head for the tourism and agriculture students are Joel Ignatius Jaideh and Ethan Ezra Nukius for respectively.
The lecturers in charge are Silverina Annabelle Kibat and Dr Alexius Korom for tourism and agrotechnology respectively.
The group gave souvenirs sponsored by Tourism Malaysia to the staff and students of the university to promote Sabah and Malaysia generally.
The other attractions which they visited included the Wenwu Temple, Wulai Old Street, Tianhu Art Centre and the Zhong Shang Memorial Hall.
These places helped them to have an understanding of the history and culture in Taiwan and exposed them to the vibrant tourism industry.
