-

IN a joint effort to encourage and sustain efforts towards excellence in education, ExxonMobil Exploration and Production Malaysia Inc. (EMEPMI) partnered with the Terengganu state education department to present awards to 24 Terengganu teachers, school administrators, education officers and parent-teacher committees.

This was in conjunction with the state’s 2018 Teachers Day celebrations.

EMEPMI vice president Ernest Miller said the company supports a wide range of education programmes in Malaysia, especially in Terengganu to help prepare the younger generation for the jobs of the 21st century.

“We focus on the Science, Technology, Engineering and Maths (STEM) fields as well as English language proficiency as we build the next generation of leaders and industry captains.

“We believe that student academic performance hinges upon highly-skilled teachers to encourage active learning from students and increase the quality of education.

“The Anugerah Hari Guru ExxonMobil provides a platform to celebrate and recognise the efforts of these educators as well as committees and departments who work tirelessly to educate and nurture their students,” said Miller.

The recipients received cash awards and certificates totalling RM52,000. The programme also introduced four new award categories.
