Star talk on all you need to know about GST, SST:

JAYA: The Star Empowerment is coming up with a talk on “Weathering the Storm of Uncertainties in GST and SST”.

The session will look into what happens after the Goods and Services Tax has been abolished and the upcoming tax system that will replace it.

The new government has announced that the GST will be replaced by the Sales and Services Tax (SST), which will take effect from Sept 1.

So, if you are still vague over the process and implementation of SST, this is a good opportunity to learn more.

What is the difference between GST and SST?

Why didn’t the Government abolish the GST altogether instead of reducing it to zero-rated?

What would be the impact with the sudden change of tax system?

These are questions that will be answered at the talk.

It is tailored for business owners and financial personnel, who need to be familiar with the new tax system. It will be conducted by Chris Yee, director, GST division of Crowe Horwath.

He has over 10 years of experience in operational and IT audits, corporate governance and risk management advisories, business process improvement and re-engineering, forensic investigations and data analysis and interrogations.

Yee has also assisted clients in performing pre-GST review and implementation work and has conducted numerous GST workshops and training since its implementation in 2014.
