Mah Sing donates RM3mil to Tabung Harapan
KUALA LUMPUR: Donations continue to pour in for Tabung Harapan Malaysia.
Property development company Mah Sing Group Bhd donated RM3mil yesterday.
“This is a corporate social responsibility effort above and beyond what we are doing with Mah Sing Foundation, which is more focused on teaching the nation’s young via our educational programmes.
“We are seeing a groundswell of support for the country. Everyone is inspired to help in their own way,” said group managing director Tan Sri Leong Hoy Kum.
Leong and several senior management staff from Mah Sing presented the mock cheque to Finance Minister Lim Guan Eng yesterday.
Leong said the current market is improving with a feel-good effect as the cost of living is reduced due to measures taken by the Government such as the zero-rated GST implementation.
“We are also heartened by the Prime Minister’s announcement that the Government wants banks to loosen lending rules for small businesses and first-time home buyers. This will certainly be a boost to the property market and also benefit Mah Sing as 71% of our buyers are 40 years old and younger, many of whom are buying their first property,” he said.
In George Town, four big companies contributed RM2.5mil to the fund.
They are Lumson Bina Engineering Sdn Bhd which chipped in RM200,000 and Unimech Group Bhd (RM300,000), and property developers Ideal Property Group and Aspen Group, each RM1mil.
Chief Minister Chow Kon Yeow commended the industry players for their contributions to the trust fund.
“It may not help to settle our country’s debts, however, it is an opportunity for responsible corporate citizens to show their loyalty towards the nation.
“It is a chance for all Malaysians to show their love for the nation,” he told a press conference at Komtar yesterday.
