Salleh to focus on defending division seat only

-

KOTA KINABALU: Sabah Umno deputy chairman Datuk Seri Dr Salleh Said Keruak will not be running for the top party post and will instead focus on defending his division seat.

Salleh said he would also not be running for the top post in Sabah.

“I just want to focus on the divi sional post,” he said during his Hari Raya open house in Likas on Saturday night.

When asked, he said Sabah Umno members and lawmakers would “not be leaving the party anytime soon”.

“Not for now. Our members and supporters are very much rooted with Umno,” Salleh said.

It was reported that Sg Sibuga assemblyman and former chief minister Tan Sri Musa Aman was set to abandon Umno and join new Sabah coalition, Gabungan Bersatu Sabah, that so far includes Parti Bersatu Sabah and Sabah STAR.

It is learnt that the coalition, whose core struggle was to promote dignified political unity and cooperation, is waiting for Musa to join it.

Musa is being sought by police over an alleged criminal intimidation report lodged against him by Yang diPertua Negri Tun Juhar Mahiruddin, as well as by the Malaysian AntiCorruption Commis sion over a graft probe.

No arrest warrant has been issued for Musa.

His whereabouts remain a mystery although he is widely believed to be in London after leaving Kota Kinabalu for Kuala Lumpur on May 14.

Musa has denied making threats.
