PUTRAJAYA: Party members found guilty of corruption or abuse of power must be dealt with serious action, said Syed Saddiq Syed Abdul Rahman.

The Parti Pribumi Bersatu Youth chief said even if he committed such wrongdoing, he should not be spared – both by the party or authorities.

“As the leader of Armada (Pribumi Youth), I do not tolerate any form of corruption, even if committed by fellow party members.

“Also, as an MP, it is my responsibility to ensure abuse of power is eradicated, so that we can heal our beloved Malaysia,” said the Muar MP to reporters here.

Syed Saddiq yesterday lodged a report with the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) on the Jalan Masjid India Ramadan bazaar fiasco.

He urged the anti-graft body to investigate Bukit Bintang Pribumi Youth chief Mohd Noorhisyam Abdul Karim, over allegations that the latter abused his power by overcharging traders.

“I want the authorities, both the police and MACC to investigate this case all the way to the lubang cacing (wormhole),” he said.

Syed Saddiq added that he was made to understand that Mohd Noorhisyam lodged a police report because he wanted to clear his name. “That’s his right,” he said.

Syed Saddiq said he communicated with the traders involved in the case and the portal that exposed the matter.

Mohd Noorhisyam is accused of collecting RM5,000 from bazaar traders in Jalan Masjid India, after allegedly misusing his position to secure bazaar lots from the Kuala Lumpur City Hall.

Pribumi supreme council member Dr Muhammad Faiz Naaman lodged a police report on June 14 on the matter.
