When a ring causes 12 hours of unbearable pain

-

A WOMAN in Perak had to endure more than 12 hours of pain when she could not remove a ring from her finger, Kosmo! reported.

Unable to bear the pain, the 45-year-old woman from Bagan Serai sought help from the Fire and Rescue Department.

Bagan Serai station operations commander Saini Manaf said the woman realised that her finger became swollen after wearing the ring on Tuesday.

“We were told that the victim had tried many ways to remove the ring but none worked. As a last resort, she came to us for help,” said Saini.

He added that his men only took 10 minutes to cut the ring using special equipment.

> Harian Metro reported that more than 80% of entertainment outlets were found to be in cahoots with drug syndicates to sell various “drug cocktails”.

The drug cocktails were sold to keep the customers hooked so that they returned to the outlets.

The cocktails were believed to have been concocted from various drugs such as Erimin 5, ketamine, ecstasy and methamphetamine and mixed with fruit juices and other beverages.

Among the popular products was kaki goyang (shake legs), which came in bottles like grape juice or ice lemon tea.

Others included powder that came in sachets, which could then be mixed with drinks such as chocolate, iced tea, teh tarik, mango and apple juices.

A source told the Malay daily that the drinks were sold for between RM300 and RM350 a bottle or sachet.

“In some exclusive outlets, these drugs were sold for between RM1,000 and RM3,000 although the taste and drug content are the same.”

The source said an individual calling himself “doctor” sold the products with the help of the waiters or guest relations officers in the outlets.

Most of the outlets selling the drugs are around Selangor and Kuala Lumpur.
