PETALING JAYA: Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad has confirmed that all names of the full Cabinet line-up have been finalised.

The Prime Minister said the names would only be announced during the swearing-in by the Yang di-Pertuan Agong on July 2.

“We will have the ceremony soon,” he told reporters after chairing a Parti Pribumi Bersatu Malaysia supreme council meeting here yesterday.

The date for the swearing-in ceremony was announced by the Comptroller of the Royal Household Datuk Wan Ahmad Dahlan Ab Aziz last night.

So far, 12 ministers have been named and 13 ministerial portfolios filled, with Deputy Prime Minister Datuk Seri Dr Wan Azizah Wan Ismail helming the Women, Family and Community Development Ministry as well.

It was reported that the names of the expanded Cabinet members were presented to the King last week.

Meanwhile, Dr Mahathir said Pribumi was considering expanding its wings to Sarawak, but not Sabah as it considered Parti Warisan Sabah (Warisan) an ally.

“We are still deciding because other Pakatan Harapan parties are already in Sarawak, except Pribumi,” he added.

Asked if Sarawak-based parties would accept Pribumi’s presence, Dr Mahathir pointed out that all Barisan Nasional’s Sarawak component parties had left to form their own coalition.

“They (Sarawak parties) don’t have to join us if they don’t want. But we have some people asking for us to be there,” he said, without elaborating.

On June 12, Sarawak parties – PBB, SUPP, PRS and PDP – made a unanimous decision to pull out from Barisan to form a new coalition known as Gabungan Parti Sarawak (GPS).

PBB president and Sarawak Chief Minister Datuk Patinggi Abang Johari Tun Openg was quoted as saying that GPS would not join Pakatan, but would cooperate and collaborate with the Federal Government in the national interests and state rights based on the Federal Constitution.
