HONG Kong superstar Andy Lau is among several Asian A-listers invited by Hollywood’s Academy Of Motion Picture Arts And Sciences to become its members, reported Sin Chew Daily.

The Oscar-giving body has also extended its membership to Taiwanese Sylvia Chang and Taiwanese-Japanese heartthrob Takeshi Kaneshiro.

On being one of the 928 new members of the body, Lau said he was grateful over the invite by the Academy Of Motion Picture Arts And Sciences.

“To be able to vote for my favourite movies; I will continue to strive for success,” he said.

With the latest inclusion, the number of membership has increased to 9,226.

Among the other notable names who have been in the list were Malaysian actress Tan Sri Michelle Yeoh, Taiwanese filmmaker Ang Lee, kung fu star Jet Li and Hong Kong’s Maggie Cheung, Tony Leung and Carina Lau.

According to property analysts, her highrise unit in Taipei was unique as it had a balcony that was a rarity in the property market.

The daily also reported that Lin had a knack for property investment­s.

At press time, Lin still had not indicated whether she wanted to sell the property.

Sohrabi Saeed, 60, was heard shouting for help before several beachgoers went to his aid during the 3pm incident on Wednesday. One even performed CPR on him but in vain.

Langkawi OCPD Supt Mohd Iqbal Ibrahim said the victim was already dead when police arrived at the beach.

He said the victim was holidaying with his wife.
